The Nordic International Film Festival (NIFF), NYC’s leading showcase of Nordic cinema, will celebrate its 11th year in a new home at LOOK Dine-In Cinemas (675 W 57th St) this year, designed by world-renowned Danish architect Bjarke Ingels.

Along with the venue change from Scandinavia House, NIFF is also shifting its annual dates to Nov 5–8, 2025, moving from its usual October schedule.

Cemented in New York City for this second decade, NIFF continues to strengthen its reputation as a launchpad for filmmakers and a cultural bridge connecting the Nordic region to the global film community. The 2025 festival will showcase features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world, with the curatorial ethos of uniquely authentic films that are as punchy as they are aspirational, here to challenge, inspire, and entertain.

“As NIFF heads into its 11th year, we are reminded that our mission of connecting Nordic-style cinema to New York City audiences is more important than ever,” says Alexis Di Gregorio, Festival Director at the Nordic International Film Festival. “Nordic Cinema consistently beats to the heart of what it means to be human in a world that is focused on achieving the biggest dreams. We invite you to take a moment and sit in the stillness and chaos of Nordic cinema and be reminded that we are alive. In 2025, we look forward to continuing to be a launchpad for outstanding new talent, and are reminded of the strong roots we came from.”

At the heart of NIFF is its juried awards program, recognizing excellence in both short and feature filmmaking. Examples of previous award-winning films, such as Unity of Opposites (Sweden, 2022), Soft (Canada, 2023), and The Remarkable Life of Ibelin (Norway, 2024), have gone on to screen at major international festivals, secure global distribution, and reach wide audiences on leading streaming platforms such as Netflix. The awards are adjudicated by a panel of industry professionals who ensure that NIFF continues to highlight and support emerging voices in cinema.
