One of Brooklyn’s buzziest winter traditions has returned as the Wythe Hotel (80 Wythe Ave 6th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11249) brings back its Afternoon Tea for the holiday season, offering sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline alongside a new menu of pastries, sandwiches and winter cocktails.
Hosted at Bar Blondeau — the hotel’s sixth-floor French-inspired bar — the Afternoon Tea service has become a seasonal favorite and, at $55 per person, is considered one of the city’s most affordable tea experiences. The service has already drawn attention from outlets including Vogue and Parade.
Presented on a traditional three-tier stand, the seasonal menu features a selection of classic tea sandwiches and toasts, including egg salad and anchovy with Calabrian chili and parsley; coronation chicken with curry, almond and mango chutney; mushroom pâté with black truffle and porcini; and smoked salmon and cucumber with dill and lemon.
Sweet offerings include vanilla chouquette filled with vanilla bean custard; strawberry sabayon tartelette with macerated strawberries; petit carrot cake with vanilla and hazelnut; passionfruit pâte de fruit; and honey butter scone with seasonal jam. Guests are served Himalayan black tea with notes of buckwheat, honey, plum and chocolate.
In addition to tea pairings, Bar Blondeau offers Champagne by the glass and a cocktail menu spotlighting area distillers. Featured drinks include the Upstate Spritz with local gin, Crimson Amaro, elderflower and sparkling wine; the Bellini with peach and orange blossom botanical vodka; and the Pink Pony Club made with strawberry-rhubarb gin and Champagne.
The Afternoon Tea menu will be available throughout the holiday season. Guests can book reservations directly through the Wythe Hotel.
