The South Street Seaport Museum (12 Fulton St, New York, NY 10038) is spreading holiday cheer with its December Monthly Family Activity: Holiday Collages, offered on weekends from December 6 through 28 (except December 7) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 207 Water Street. The event is free and designed to engage visitors of all ages in hands-on, creative activities inspired by maritime history and the Museum’s collections.
This month, families are invited to explore their artistic side by crafting seasonal letterpress collages and paper sculptures inspired by the works of artist Robert Warner (1956–2023), whose collages are on view in the Museum’s Maritime City gallery and preserved in the Seaport Museum’s collection. Participants can create festive holiday-themed pieces or reflective collages marking the end of 2025, using a variety of materials, including letterpress stamps, craft supplies, found objects, and materials from Bowne & Co.
Activities rotate monthly to highlight different aspects of maritime history, New York City’s port heritage, and the Museum’s unique collections. Engagement stations may be located in the Seaport Museum program space at 207 Water Street, inside Schermerhorn Row galleries at 12 Fulton Street, or aboard the tall ship Wavertree at Pier 16, with Museum staff available to guide visitors to each weekend’s featured activity.
Families are encouraged to book free tickets in advance to ensure participation. This festive program offers a hands-on way to celebrate the season while exploring the rich history of New York’s historic Seaport district.
