Cavetown, the project of UK-born singer-songwriter Robin Skinner, will bring his newly announced Running With Scissors tour to the Brooklyn Paramount on Oct. 25, marking one of a limited number of U.S. headline dates in support of his latest album.

Released via Futures Music Group, Running With Scissors represents a pivotal moment in Skinner’s career, capturing the unsettled space between youth and adulthood through a sound that blends hyper-pop textures, distorted guitars and Cavetown’s signature dream-pop intimacy. The album arrives alongside the single “Cryptid,” accompanied by a short film that explores themes of visibility, safety and identity through Skinner’s experience as a transgender artist.

In the video, “cryptids” live underground, hidden by a world that fears difference, before emerging to confront the stories imposed on them. While rooted in the trans experience, Skinner has described the work as a broader reflection on how many communities — including queer, Black, immigrant and disabled people — have been historically cast as “other.”

The Brooklyn performance is part of a small run of Running With Scissors tour dates that also includes Chicago and Los Angeles, bringing the album’s themes of growth, reckoning and connection into more intimate venues. In partnership with PLUS1, $1 from every ticket sold will benefit local organizations supporting the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities.

The album also marks a creative shift for Skinner, who for the first time welcomed collaborators deeply into the songwriting and production process. Contributors include Chloe Moriondo, Underscores, Ryan Raines, David Pramik and Couros, whose input expands the emotional and sonic range of the record.

The closing title track, “Running With Scissors,” distills the album’s central metaphor of adulthood as a balance of risk and momentum. “There’s so much to be scared of, but there’s also so much fun to be had,” Skinner said. “You’ll miss all of it if you don’t just wing it.”

Beyond the music, Cavetown continues his work as a community advocate through the This Is Home Project, an initiative supporting housing, mental health services and creative programs for LGBTQ+ youth that has raised more than $700,000 to date.

With the Oct. 25 show at the Brooklyn Paramount, Cavetown brings Running With Scissors to a New York audience, inviting fans who have grown up alongside his music to move forward with him into a new chapter.
