‘Bent Through Glass’ explores a father’s grief and healing at the 30th Street Theater in April

Alex Koltchak’s new play Bent Through Glass will explore a father’s journey through grief and healing following the suicide of his daughter. The production runs April 1–25, 2026, at the 30th Street Theater, 259 West 30th Street, with performances Mondays through Saturdays at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $59.

Written and performed by Koltchak and directed by Michael Sladek, the 80-minute play—with no intermission—blends raw emotion with moments of wry humor. The story follows a father navigating the aftermath of loss alongside his surviving family, highlighting the redemptive power of love.

“For me, in the cratered landscape of my grief, love magnified, and transformed,” Koltchak said. “Each memory of Parker turned into a beam of light, refracted through the darkness; proving that our connections transcend the moment of goodbye.”

Koltchak, a writer, filmmaker, actor, and comedian, has written and directed several films and stage projects, including Methods and I: Ayn Rand. Sladek’s directing credits include films and theater works such as Con Artist and Devils Are Dreaming.
