Social Distortion will perform at the Brooklyn Paramount on September 11 and 12 as part of their upcoming North American tour, coinciding with the release of their eighth studio album, Born to Kill, set for May 8 on Epitaph Records. Tickets are on sale now at brooklynparamount.com
The album, the band’s first in 15 years, features 11 tracks of high-energy rock ’n’ roll and marks founder Mike Ness’ return following his recovery from cancer. The title track, already performing strongly in live shows, pays homage to Lou Reed, Iggy and the Stooges, and David Bowie, blending Social Distortion’s signature defiance with reflective storytelling. Other tracks, including “Tonight” and “The Way Things Were,” recall the emotional intensity of the band’s earlier hits.
Co-produced by Ness and Dave Sardy, Born to Kill includes guest appearances by Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Lucinda Williams. The album’s cover art was created collaboratively by Ness and Shepard Fairey.
Social Distortion’s catalog spans nearly four decades, including landmark albums such as Mommy’s Little Monster (1983), Social Distortion (1990), and Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes (2011).
