Kidilum, a new South Indian restaurant showcasing the spice-rich cuisine of Kerala, opened on February 27 in Manhattan’s Flatiron district at 31 W. 21st Street.
Led by Executive Chef Vinu Raveendran and restaurateurs Sidharth Sharma, Archana Sharma, and Sammeer A. Raajpal, Kidilum highlights Kerala’s coastal and inland culinary traditions with a menu built around in-house ground spices.
The 74-seat restaurant features small plates such as Kozhi Cutlet, Puliinji pork ribs, and Iracchi Pathiri beef pepper fry, alongside larger mains like Paal Curry, Nandu Curry, Vella Korma, and Pork Vindaloo. Traditional South Indian breads and rice accompaniments, including Appam, Malabari Paratha, and Idiyappam, complement the dishes. Desserts include Ilaneer Payasam and Mysore Pak.
Kidilum’s beverage program, led by Devender Sehgal and Harish Subramanian, offers South Indian-inspired cocktails and housemade syrups, cordials, and sodas.
The dining room combines layered greens, polished wood, brass, and sculptural clay walls, creating an intimate space that reflects Kerala’s culture. Guests can watch the kitchen in action at the open chef’s counter or relax at the eight-seat bar while enjoying drinks that echo the restaurant’s vibrant flavors.
Kidilum is the latest project from Hungry Trio, the hospitality group behind Aarzu Indian Bistro, Ramen Nagomi, and Esquina No. 525.
