Atlantic Theater Company and Rattlestick Theater announce casting for Off-Broadway debut of “Indian Princesses”

Indian Princess performance at Linda Gross Theater in Manhattan starting May 2026

Atlantic Theater Company and Rattlestick Theater have announced casting for the Off-Broadway debut of “Indian Princesses,” written by Eliana Theologides Rodriguez and directed by Miranda Cornell.

Performances begin April 30, with an official opening set for May 19. The limited engagement runs through June 7 at Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater. Tickets are on sale now, with regular prices starting at $75. Click here to purchase tickets.

The cast includes Ben Beckley, Anissa Marie Griego, Rebecca Jimenez, Greg Keller, Serenity Mariana, Pete Simpson, Lark White, Haley Wong, and Tony Award winner Frank Wood.

Set in the summer of 2008, “Indian Princesses” follows five young girls of color and their white fathers as they participate in a father-daughter bonding program built around crafts, camp-style activities, and what the playwright describes as cultural appropriation. As questions about identity and history surface, the girls confront truths their fathers are unable — or unwilling — to address.

Inspired by Rodriguez’s own experiences in a similarly named program, the play is described as a tender satire examining assimilation, inherited narratives, and the erasure and repackaging of cultural identity.

“Though I wrote this play as a comedy, its impetus was in part inspired by my own family history and the assimilationist agenda the United States employed to rob us of our heritage,” Rodriguez said in a statement. “This is what the phrase ‘Indian Princess’ represents to me now: the rewriting of history, the subjugation of an identity, and the confusion of being a little girl in a nation that denies you your power as it crowns you a princess.”

The production features sets by Emmie Finckel, costumes by Sarafina Bush, lighting by Mextly Couzin, and sound design by Salvador Zamora. Dramaturgy is by Sierra Rosetta, with casting by The Telsey Office. Andie Burns serves as production stage manager.

“Indian Princesses” was developed in part through the Terrence McNally New Works Incubator at Rattlestick Theater in partnership with The Terrence McNally Foundation.

The Linda Gross Theater is located at 336 W. 20th St. in Manhattan. Performances are scheduled Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 7 p.m.; Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
