The South Street Seaport Museum will host an evening of live music and hands-on crafts at Bowne & Co. on March 28, from 6–8 p.m. at 207 Water Street. The free event, titled “Craft Night and Cozy Melodies,” invites participants ages 12 and older to create, connect, and enjoy the museum’s historic printing presses.

Singer-songwriter Blair Lamb and accompanying musicians will perform throughout the evening while visitors experiment with printing on historic presses from the museum’s working graphic arts collection. Attendees can also explore collage-making, knitting, embroidery, sketching, and other crafts. Materials will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own projects.

Preregistration is encouraged, though walk-ups will be accommodated as space allows. Participants can take home items they print, and visitors may come and go during the two-hour event.

Bowne & Co., established in 1775 by Robert Bowne, is New York’s oldest operating business under the same name. Partnering with the Seaport Museum in 1975, the 19th-century-style print shop continues the tradition of small-batch printing and houses Bowne & Co. Stationers, a 19th-century-style gift shop.

The event ticket does not include general admission to the museum’s historic ships and exhibitions, which are available Friday through Sunday. General admission provides access to the 1885 tall ship Wavertree, the 1908 lightship Ambrose, and current exhibitions in Schermerhorn Row galleries.

Founded in 1967, the South Street Seaport Museum preserves and interprets New York City’s maritime history through exhibitions, historic vessels, and working 19th-century print shops.
