The 92nd Street Y will host a recital featuring violinist Alexi Kenney and pianist Janice Carissa on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. on the David Geffen Stage at Kaufmann Concert Hall, 92NY, 1395 Lexington Avenue. Kenney, known for his expressive playing and diverse programming, pairs with Carissa for a program including works by Astor Piazzolla, Jean Sibelius, Alfred Schnittke, Benjamin Britten, and a world premiere by Michi Wiancko co-commissioned by 92NY. The performance showcases Kenney’s signature tone and virtuosity, moving from contemporary rhythms to lyrical classics, alongside Carissa’s acclaimed technical precision and narrative artistry.
A recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, Kenney has appeared with major orchestras worldwide and performs regularly at prestigious festivals including Marlboro, Caramoor, and Spoleto. He is a founding member of Owls, a chamber ensemble praised by The New York Times as a “dream group.”
Carissa, a Gilmore Young Artist and Salon de Virtuosi winner, has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center, and has appeared with orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra. The pianist is recognized for her mature, story-driven interpretations and dynamic chamber collaborations.
The recital is part of 92NY’s ongoing commitment to presenting world-class musical performances and fostering contemporary classical music in New York City.
