South Street Seaport Museum will host its April monthly family program, Lenape Games, offering hands-on activities that highlight Indigenous traditions of the Greater New York region. The program runs on select dates from April 3 through April 26 and is included with general admission.
The activities will take place indoors at 14 Fulton St. from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 3–5, 10–12, 17–19, and 24–26. Designed for visitors of all ages, the program invites families to explore the history and culture of the Lenape people through interactive play.
Participants can learn and play traditional games such as Selahtinalìtin, a scattering-straw game similar to Pick Up Sticks, and Mamantuhwin, a dice-and-bowl game inspired by the whirligig beetle. The activities aim to connect visitors with Lenapehoking, the ancestral land that includes present-day Lower Manhattan.
The Lenape Games program is part of the museum’s ongoing monthly family activity series, which offers creative, educational experiences tied to maritime history and life in New York. Admission also includes access to the museum’s galleries, the historic tall ship Wavertree, and the lightship Ambrose.
Free tickets for the April family activity are available in advance through the museum.
