The Museum of Modern Art commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States with a summer slate of programs and a new initiative providing free memberships for New York state arts educators.
The schedule, running June through August 2026, focuses on the intersection of community and American creativity.
A featured exhibition on the museum’s third floor showcases folk art from the collection of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, one of MoMA’s three founders. The display highlights the nation’s tradition of vernacular art-making and the role folk art played in the institution’s early history.
A concurrent film series explores immigration and the American dream, examining how the movement of people has inspired creativity in the U.S. In the Donald and Catherine Marron Family Atrium, a collective art-making project invites visitors to collaboratively create a work representing the “one out of many” ideal.
“This mix of programming, and the launch of a new membership intended to inspire arts educators, will underline and explore how vital creativity and community are to our nation, and how they will continue to shape what it can become,” said Christophe Cherix, the David Rockefeller Director of MoMA.
To support future generations of artists, the museum launched a complimentary two-year membership for New York state arts educators teaching pre-K through grade 12. The program aims to extend the museum’s resources to teachers throughout the region.
Information regarding specific exhibition dates and educator registration is available on the museum’s website.
