Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre to preview ‘Exposed’ for 26th anniversary season

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre announced Monday its 26th annual performance season, which will feature preview performances of the new work “Exposed” on May 1 and 2.

The performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio, located at 412 Broadway. Tickets for the previews are $30.

“Exposed” is described as an exploration of the “raw relentlessness human drive to climb” and the vulnerability required to transcend obstacles. The work features a company of 15 dancers performing amidst a scenic design of semi-transparent steps and screens that distort and conceal the stage.

The creative team for the production includes scenic designer Rob Dutiel, costume designer Anna-Alisa Belous, and lighting designer Dan Ozminkowski. Following these spring previews, the full theatrical premiere of the work is slated for April 2027 at New York Live Arts.

Artistic Director and Choreographer Amanda Selwyn founded the company in 2000. Over 26 seasons, she has directed more than 175 productions and developed the Notes in Motion dance education program. Selwyn, a graduate of NYU Tisch and Northwestern University, has previously presented work at Jacob’s Pillow and the American Dance Guild Festival.

The company’s 2026 programs are supported by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
