The historic Cherry Lane Theatre announced Tuesday the launch of its official YouTube channel, debuting with a concert film featuring pop vocalist Audrey Hobert.
The performance is the first installment of the “Live From Cherry Lane Theatre” series. Hobert’s set was recorded during a sold-out engagement in September as part of the venue’s Red Door Reopening week. The singer recently received an iHeart Radio Music Award nomination for favorite debut album for her record, “Who’s the Clown?”
The new digital platform will serve as a hub for the theater’s multi-genre programming, spanning music, comedy, film, and stage productions. Upcoming content scheduled for the channel includes features with Brandi Carlile, Lizzy McAlpine, Sofia Coppola, and Spike Lee.
The announcement comes as the theater continues its successful Off-Broadway revival of “You Got Older.” The play, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Clare Barron and directed by Anne Kauffman, was recently extended for a second time through April 26 due to high ticket demand.
Cherry Lane Theatre, located in Greenwich Village, is one of the oldest continuously running Off-Broadway venues in New York City. The new YouTube channel marks a significant expansion of its digital reach, offering global access to performances held within its intimate 179-seat mainstage.
