20th Century Wolf has announced the premiere of Comedy Cabaret for Disgruntled Humans!, a variety show benefiting the nonprofit Foster Your Dream, on Sunday, May 17, at the Caveat Room.
The production, created by award-winning producer Sue Wolf and hosted by stand-up comic and foreign policy pundit Bill Hartung, features a lineup of stand-up comedy, satire, sketches, and live music. The show is the first in what the creators describe as a continuing series of live events designed to respond to the current cultural moment while supporting foster families.
“We’re building a space where disgruntled humans can gather and heal through humor and help others, because the state of the world is, frankly, exhausting,” said Sue Wolf. “What better way to heal the world and help foster children at the same time, right?”
The performance features headliner Jimmy Tingle, a Boston comedian and former candidate for lieutenant governor. He is joined by comedians Kristal Adams and Nicole Aboujaoudé, humorist Tim Cahill, and musicians Donovan Counts and Ren Ragsdale.
“People are in a state of shock over all the bad news raining down on them, and they don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or roll into a little ball,” Hartung said. “Doomscrolling can ruin your day—so come to our cabaret.”
The event will support Foster Your Dream, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides foster youth with arts and opportunities not typically covered by state parenting. According to organizers, 100% of all livestreaming proceeds and 50% of live ticket sales will go toward the organization.
The show is suitable for ages 21 and older and runs from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at 21A Clinton St. Live tickets are $21.41 in advance or $25 at the door, while livestream tickets are $11.63. Registration and information are available through the Caveat NYC website. Click here to purchase tickets.
