Thousands of toy elephants will parachute from rooftops onto Washington Street on Friday, May 29, 2026, for the ninth annual Dumbo Drop. The fundraising event features two separate drops scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets for the event start at $18.75 and include a souvenir toy elephant, a viewing spot on the car-free block of Washington Street between Front and Water Streets, and entry into a prize sweepstakes. All attendees ages 2 and older are required to have a ticket to view the spectacle.
Proceeds from the event support local Title 1 public schools, including PS307 Elementary and The Dock Street Middle School.
“Dumbo Drop is one of the most unique and memorable sights in New York City,” said Alexandria Sica, president of the Dumbo Improvement District. “We are so proud to put on this event and raise funds for our neighborhood schools.”
Each year, a neighborhood artist designs a unique parachute for the toy elephants; the 2026 design was created by Christian Vera.
Activities on Washington Street will include a live performance by The Jelly, a flash mob dance party on the LifeTime Stage, and a “Restaurant Row” featuring food samples priced at $7. Kids’ activities include a themed craft station with Creatively Wild and LEGO activities with Brooklyn Bridge Parents.
Sweepstakes prizes include a six-month membership to Life Time gym, a two-night stay at the 1Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, and gift cards for M Collection Home + Design and Fishs Eddy. Participants in the sweepstakes do not need to be present to win.
Doors for the first event open at 3:30 p.m., while doors for the 7 p.m. event open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online through the Dumbo Improvement District.
