Broadway’s longest-running musical, Chicago, will welcome comedian, actor, and singer Matteo Lane to the cast beginning Monday, June 22, 2026. Lane is scheduled to step into the role of criminal lawyer Billy Flynn at the Ambassador Theatre, located at 219 West 49th Street in New York City. The production stands as the longest-running musical currently playing on Broadway and the top American musical in Broadway history.

The incoming performer is a multifaceted talent known for blending stand-up comedy, singing, and visual art. Lane is currently performing on his third international comedy tour, titled We Gotta Catch Up, and has previously sold out solo shows at major venues including Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center. His extensive media credits include multiple streaming stand-up specials alongside appearances on television programs such as Abbott Elementary and Survival of the Thickest.

Set during the 1920s, the musical features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The narrative follows Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who hires a slick defense attorney to transform her murder case into sensational tabloid headlines. Produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, the original revival production won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, as well as a Grammy Award for its cast recording.

The current Broadway company features Rachel Schur as Roxie Hart, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, and Nik Walker as Billy Flynn. The production is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, featuring scenic design by John Lee Beatty and costume designs by William Ivey Long. Performance schedules run weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with admission tickets available online or at the Ambassador Theatre box office.
