The Mountain Goats to perform two shows at Carnegie Hall

The Mountain Goats to perform at Carnegie hall in Manhattan in December 2026
The Mountain Goats

The Mountain Goats have announced the upcoming release of their new studio album, titled Days, scheduled to arrive on August 7 through Cadmean Dawn Records. The project launched alongside the release of its lead single, “Charlie Sheen Reaches Out to the Feds.” The announcement coincides with an extensive world tour itinerary that runs through the end of 2026.

The upcoming album originated from a concept intended as a sequel to the band’s previous release, Goths. Principal songwriter John Darnielle wrote the material over a two-week period while his wife was away at a residency in Virginia. The resulting tracks loosely focus on the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, exploring themes centered around the passage of time and personal recollection.

John Congleton produced the record at Sear Sound in Manhattan, a studio managed by Roberta Findlay. The recording sessions featured musical contributions from bassist and French horn player Rob Jost, alongside backing vocals from Catherine Russell, Jamie Leonhart, and Carolyn Leonhart. Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer provided layered vocals for the track “Hidden Majesty of Later Venom Albums,” while Matt Nathanson contributed to “Candlebox” and Mikaela Davis played harp on “Going to Fennario.”

The band’s supporting world tour began on May 15 at The Fillmore Silver Spring in Maryland. The itinerary includes stops across North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom before concluding with major theater appearances. The tour features a performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California, before heading to New York City.

The tour concludes with a two-night stand in Manhattan at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The first performance is scheduled for December 10, followed by a second night on December 11. Tickets for the December 11 concert are officially sold out.
