Chicago punk rock band Rise Against has released two new singles, “Katy Bar The Door” and “Living Undercover.” The new music comes as the group prepares for an autumn headlining tour across the United States.
The tour features support from Alkaline Trio and includes a stop in Manhattan on September 30 at The Rooftop at Pier 17. The fall run begins on September 22 in Dallas, Texas at the South Side Ballroom.
Vocalist Tim McIlrath drew inspiration for “Katy Bar The Door” from an old phrase warning that trouble is coming. The song was written following ICE raids in Minneapolis and reflects on historical abuses of power and issues surrounding democracy.
The second single, “Living Undercover,” focuses on hidden aspects of life and features a cloak-and-dagger tone. McIlrath noted that the song addresses both positive creations and darker themes kept away from public view.
Both tracks were recorded at The Blasting Room, a studio location where the band has recorded music throughout its career. Rise Against is currently touring in the United Kingdom alongside Jimmy Eat World before returning to the U.S. for the fall dates.
