The producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have announced a final extension for Tom Felton in his Broadway debut role as Draco Malfoy. Felton, who originated the character in the film series, will continue performing in the show through Sunday, January 3, 2027, at the Lyric Theatre in Mnhattan.
This engagement marks the first time an actor from the original film cast has joined the stage production. The play presents a new narrative set 19 years after the conclusion of the original series, following adult versions of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they send their own children to Hogwarts.
Felton is not scheduled to appear in performances from September 14 to 20, October 12 to 18, or on November 2. Tickets for the production start at $80 and can be purchased online.
The current Broadway ensemble is led by John Skelley as Harry Potter, Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, and Emmet Smith as Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher plays Hermione Granger alongside Daniel Fredrick as Ron Weasley and Janae Hammond as Rose Granger-Weasley, while Aidan Close portrays Scorpius Malfoy and Kristen Martin plays Delphi Diggory.
The broader performance company includes Chadd Alexander, John Alix, Logan Becker, Darby Breedlove, Megan Byrne, James Cribbins, Ted Deasy, Gary-Kayi Fletcher, Dani Goldberg, Alexis Gordon, Caleb Hafen, Logan James Hall, Chance Marshaun Hill, Jamie Jackson, Jay Mack, Samaria Nixon-Fleming, Bradley Patchett, Alexandra Peter, Dan Plehal, Allie Re, Gabrielle Reid, Isaac Phaman Reynolds, Will Rhem Jr., Kiaya Scott, Maren Searle, Tom Stephens, Khadija Tariyan, Baylen Thomas, and Riley Thad Young.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the franchise and the first to be adapted for the stage. Premiering in London in July 2016, the production has sold over 11 million tickets globally and earned 60 major awards, including six Tony Awards and nine Laurence Olivier Awards.
Recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, the show has generated more than $430 million in sales across 3.5 million ticket purchases. It currently ranks as the third longest-running play in Broadway history, with additional global productions running in London, Hamburg, Tokyo, The Netherlands, and on tour across North America.
Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, the play was written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany. The creative team features movement by Steven Hoggett, set design by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison, and music supervision by Martin Lowe, with U.S. casting by Jim Carnahan, CSA.
The production is presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender, and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.
