The New York Botanical Garden will host its second annual NYBG 5K Fun Run on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, at 8 a.m. The event marks the conclusion of Climate Week NYC and features a 3.1-mile route designed to support the institution’s ongoing scientific research and plant-based climate initiatives.
Designed in partnership with the Boogie Down Bronx Run Club, this year’s updated course incorporates new terrain through the historic Thain Family Forest. Participants will travel across roads and trails, passing garden landmarks such as the Lillian and Amy Goldman Stone Mill, the Mertz Building, the Judy and Michael Steinhardt Maple Collection, and the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
While the run is not officially timed, the 2026 event introduces a finish line timing clock for individuals wishing to track their overall pace. Members of the Boogie Down Bronx Run Club will provide course support throughout the route, which accommodates both road and trail runners ages 13 and older.
Registration fees are set at $55 for members and $65 for non-members, which includes an All-Garden Pass, run registration, a commemorative T-shirt, and a run-day discount at the NYBG Shop. Non-running guests may purchase an All-Garden Pass to cheer on participants from the Leon Levy Visitor Center or near the finish line.
Post-run festivities will take place on Daffodil Hill from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., featuring music from Uptown Vinyl Supreme alongside meet-and-greet sessions with garden experts and run club staff. The event will take place rain or shine at the garden’s 2900 Southern Boulevard location in the Bronx.
