Tony Award nominee Sky Lakota-Lynch has joined the cast of The King’s Critique, a new original musical comedy opening in Manhattan this fall. Performances begin Tuesday, Nov. 3, ahead of an official opening night on Thursday, Nov. 12, at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.
The limited engagement is produced by Art Lab Productions and Jordan Fisher Theatrics, with executive producer Lisa Dozier Shacket. Featuring music and lyrics by Nat Zegree alongside book and lyrics by Eric Holmes, the production is directed by Catie Davis.
Set in a kingdom where King Benjamin has forbidden women from performing on stage, the story follows a character named Josephine who hatches a plan with a tenor named Sebastian to challenge the decree. The plot follows the chaotic outcomes as the characters attempt to execute their plan.
Lakota-Lynch joins a cast that includes Taylor Iman Jones, Justin Collette, Donna Lynne Champlin, Matthew Patrick Quinn, Gabi Carrubba, Gilbert L. Bailey II, Bridget Beirne, Nick Cearley, Christian Fary, Timothy Matthew Flores, Amy Jo Jackson, Geena Quintos, and Justin Sudderth. Kyrie Courter and Ryan Everett Wood serve as company understudies.
Prior to joining the production, Lakota-Lynch originated the role of Johnny Cade in The Outsiders on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination. A five-song concept album for The King’s Critique was previously released on streaming platforms in 2025 by Joy Machine Records.
