Gingold Theatrical Group will present a limited run of George Bernard Shaw’s classic two-hander play Village Wooing from October 22 through October 25, 2026, at The House of the Redeemer. The production features Tony Award winners Beth Leavel and Karen Ziemba alongside Tony Award nominees Robert Cuccioli and Tom Hewitt performing across four intimate show dates.
This staging introduces a new gender-neutral adaptation of Shaw’s text, which opens the roles originally designated as A and Z to performers of any gender. Written by Shaw in 1933, the comedy follows two people determined to remain single who meet aboard a pleasure ship and experience unexpected changes in their lives.
The rotating performance schedule features Beth Leavel and Robert Cuccioli on October 22 at 7:00 PM, followed by Karen Ziemba and Tom Hewitt on October 23 at 7:00 PM. Robert Cuccioli and Tom Hewitt will perform together on October 24 at 7:00 PM, with Beth Leavel and Karen Ziemba concluding the run on October 25 at 3:00 PM.
Presented as a Salon Presentation, the artist-driven event places actors in a personal room setting with an intimate audience, complete with complimentary drinks and snacks. Tickets are currently on sale, and proceeds directly support ongoing company initiatives including the Project Shaw reading series, the Speakers’ Corner new works program, and Off-Broadway productions.
Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director David Staller, Gingold Theatrical Group is in its 21st year of creating theater focused on human rights, freedom of speech, and individual liberty inspired by Shaw’s works. Major supporters include the Buchwald Family Foundation, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
