Abingdon Theatre Company adds talkbacks to BIPOC Short Play Festival

Abingdon Theatre Company announced Tuesday that James Ijames, Jonathan McCrory, Jamila Ponton Bragg, Lawryn LaCroix, and Rashad V. Chambers will participate in post-performance talkbacks for Raise the Page, Uplift the Word: A BIPOC Festival of Short Plays at AMT Theater. The festival runs March 9–10 at 7 p.m. at 354 West 45th Street.

The March 9 talkback will feature a professional producers panel with Ponton Bragg, founder of JamRock Productions; LaCroix, producer with Lia Vollack Productions; and McCrory, executive artistic director of the National Black Theatre. Tony Award-winning producer Chambers will moderate the discussion.

On March 10, the talkback will spotlight emerging BIPOC playwrights in conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright James Ijames and Chambers, along with festival playwrights. Both sessions are open to all ticket holders.

Raise the Page, Uplift the Word celebrates stories by BIPOC writers and aims to expand access to theatre. Tickets are free to the public. The festival is presented in collaboration with AMT Theater and sponsored by Owen Charles, Marcus Felder, Yasmeen Mock, and Jonathan D’Agostino.
