Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre will host a Valentine’s Day Sizzle Salsa Social on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, inviting couples, friends and solo dancers to celebrate the holiday through music and movement.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio, 412 Broadway, second floor. Tickets start at $25 and are available online.
Led by instructors Angélica Barbosa and Isaac Kerr, the evening features a lively salsa class designed for all experience levels. Participants will learn footwork, partner turns and rhythmic combinations in a welcoming, high-energy setting. No prior dance experience is required, and attendees may participate with a partner or on their own. A buy-one, bring-a-friend-free option is also available.
The Valentine’s Day program reflects Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre’s mission to create dynamic dance theatre that emphasizes emotional expression through athletic and articulate movement. The company’s work blends theatrical storytelling with physicality, engaging audiences on both emotional and sensory levels.
Founded in 2000 by artistic director and choreographer Amanda Selwyn, the company — also known as Notes in Motion — has produced more than 130 works over 26 seasons and developed an extensive dance education program. Selwyn’s choreography and educational initiatives have been presented at venues and festivals including Jacob’s Pillow, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, DUMBO Dance Festival and the American Dance Guild Festival.
Selwyn, who holds a master’s degree from NYU Tisch and a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, has also led workshops and residencies at colleges and universities across the country. Her work has been supported by numerous public and private grants, and she is a participant in Jacob’s Pillow’s Choreographer’s Lab.
The Valentine’s Day Sizzle Salsa Social offers an accessible and festive opportunity to experience the company’s community-centered approach to dance while celebrating connection and movement.
