Families looking for activities during mid-winter school break can head to Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park, where Kids Week will offer four days of free programming designed for young children.
The series runs Tuesday, Feb. 17, through Friday, Feb. 20, with most activities geared toward children ages 4 to 6, though all ages are welcome.
Each morning from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Kids Skate Sessions will take place at The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village. The sessions include kid-friendly music, complimentary skate aids, and live performances by youth skaters. Free 25-minute group lessons with professional coaches will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at 9:30 a.m., 10:10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:40 a.m. Rink admission is free; visitors may bring their own skates or rent them on-site.
Off the ice, children can participate in themed activities inside the Overlook area’s imagination playground from 9:30 a.m. to noon daily.
The week opens Feb. 17 with “Quest for Gold,” inspired by winter sports. Activities include iceless curling lanes, building a miniature Winter Games stadium, and crafting a ceremonial torch.
On Feb. 18, “Medieval Faire” will feature crown and sword-making, musical story time with princess and dragon themes, proclamation writing, and a mini catapult challenge.
“Earth Day” programming on Feb. 19 will highlight sustainability with recycled-material crafts, an interactive performance by eco-rapper Hila the Earth, and a kid-and-baby item swap for parents.
The week concludes Feb. 20 with “Pizza Palooza,” where children can craft clay pizzas, participate in a park-wide “delivery” activity, and vote in a topping poll. Pizza will be available for purchase from Casa Toscana.
Organizers say the annual Kids Week series provides families with a free, accessible destination during the school holiday while offering interactive, creative programming in the heart of Manhattan.
