Golden Steer, the storied Las Vegas steakhouse known for its vintage glamour, tableside service and celebrity legacy, has opened its first New York City outpost at the landmark One Fifth Avenue building, marking the restaurant’s first national expansion in its 70-year history.
Located at 1 Fifth Ave. at Eighth Street, Golden Steer at One Fifth brings the spirit of old-school Las Vegas to Manhattan, pairing classic steakhouse traditions with a design that nods to both midcentury glamour and the architectural legacy of its new home. The 167-seat restaurant was designed by Modellus Novus, the New York-based firm behind acclaimed hospitality spaces including Tatiana at Lincoln Center and Crown Shy at 70 Pine.
Founded in Las Vegas in 1958, Golden Steer became a favorite of entertainment legends such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. The New York opening continues that legacy under the ownership of Nick McMillan and Amanda Signorelli, who assumed operations in 2019 after inheriting the business from Signorelli’s family.
“This opening is about honoring where we came from while introducing Golden Steer to a new generation,” McMillan said in a statement.
Executive Chef Brendan Scott, whose background includes Montrachet, Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery and Carne Mare in New York, leads the kitchen. The menu centers on indulgent steakhouse classics, blending signature Las Vegas dishes with New York exclusives. Highlights include housemade Steer Sausage, Veal Saltimbocca, Chicken Hunter Style with porcini mousse, and a Bloody Bull Oyster Shooter served in a coupe glass.
Steaks anchor the menu, with all cuts USDA Prime and seasoned with a proprietary blend created by longtime head butcher Sergio Cortes. Offerings range from a 12-ounce filet mignon and a 16-ounce New York strip to large-format selections such as a 45-ounce tomahawk and a 50-ounce dry-aged porterhouse. Seafood options include a raw bar and a Vegas-inspired Ship & Shore surf-and-turf presentation.
Tableside service remains central to the Golden Steer experience, with preparations such as Caesar salad, Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee performed in the dining room. Classic sides, including the restaurant’s oversized twice-baked potato and prime macaroni and cheese topped with beef, round out the menu.
The beverage program draws inspiration from the building’s original tenant, the historic #1 Bar, which opened in 1934. Cocktails include a classic Gibson, a smoked-date Old Fashioned, vintage fizz recipes and theatrical presentations such as The Showgirl, poured tableside with rosé Champagne.
Design elements throughout the space reference both Las Vegas and New York history, from gold fringe and marquee lighting to stained glass, tufted vinyl booths and Western-inspired artwork. Two private dining rooms — the Mob Room and the Showgirl Room — pay tribute to the restaurant’s colorful past.
With its Manhattan debut, Golden Steer aims to translate its signature blend of nostalgia, showmanship and prime steaks to a new audience, while maintaining the traditions that made it a Las Vegas institution.
