Recording artist Kim Gordon has added a second concert performance at the Warsaw music venue in Brooklyn. The newly scheduled appearance will take place on September 16.
The upcoming autumn concert is part of a larger domestic tour that continues through the summer and fall seasons. The traveling schedule includes performances in multiple cities, with stops planned for Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Seattle. The live appearances follow the release of her third solo studio album titled Play Me, which is distributed through Matador Records.
The announcement of the additional Brooklyn performance follows Gordon’s recent network television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During the late-night broadcast, she performed the album’s title track while wearing a Jalen Brunson jersey to acknowledge the recent National Basketball Association championship won by the New York Knicks. The choice mirrors a 1994 television appearance on Late Show with David Letterman where she wore a John Starks jersey during a performance with the band Sonic Youth.
The new studio release has been featured on several mid-year music lists, including selections by Paste Magazine, Rolling Stone, SPIN Magazine, and The Guardian. The thematic elements of the tracks use dark humor to address contemporary societal topics, modern culture, and technological subjects. The musical arrangements focus on an inquisitive songwriting style paired with physical instrumentation.
The promotional rollout for the record features multiple music videos and short film collaborations. The opening track, Not Today, is accompanied by a short film directed by filmmakers and Rodarte fashion brand founders Kate and Laura Mulleavy, alongside director of photography Christopher Blauvelt. Additional video releases include a clip for the title track directed by Barney Clay and a video for the single Dirty Tech directed by Moni Haworth.
