This November, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club invites audiences to a one-woman journey through family, memory, and legacy with Kim Ima’s “Ready for Company and Other Family Tales”. The show runs November 6–23, 2025 at The Downstairs, 66 East 4th Street, with tickets priced at $30, and $25 for students and seniors. Ten $10 tickets are available for each performance on a first-come, first-served basis, purchased online in advance.
“Ready for Company and Other Family Tales” is a deeply personal exploration of a Jewish-Japanese-American family history, uncovering stories, souvenirs, and the silent secrets that shape what we carry forward. Through music, movement, and playful “show-and-tell” objects, Kim Ima unpacks her family legacy with humor, nostalgia, and insight into the immigrant experience.
Audiences can expect moments both poignant and whimsical, including reflections on camp, cake, and treasured family traditions. Light refreshments will be served following the performance.
Kim Ima, a longtime member of La MaMa’s Great Jones Rep, has an extensive background in theater and performance. Her previous roles include Cassandra in La MaMa’s “The Trojan Women”, as well as guest performances with Monica Bill Barnes & Company. She is a founding member of The Trojan Women Project, and the author of The Treats Truck Baking Book.
The production team features
- Director: Megan Paradis Hanley
- Dramaturg: Kendall Cornell
