L’Alliance New York will present a staged reading of The Illusion, Pierre Corneille’s 17th-century play, on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Florence Gould Theater.
The performance will take place at L’Alliance New York, 55 E. 59th St., in Manhattan. Tickets start at $24.
The production is presented in partnership with Red Bull Theater and features an English translation by Ranjit Bolt of Corneille’s 1636 work L’Illusion Comique. Directed by Mirabelle Ordinaire, the reading explores the story of an aging lawyer who turns to a magician to glimpse the life of his estranged son, unfolding a meta-theatrical tale that blends comedy and tragedy.
The cast includes Keith Hamilton Cobb, Sharlene Cruz, Russell Daniels, Christian DeMarais, Allen Gilmore, Michael Rishawn, Nik Walker, and Mia Wurgaft. The family-friendly staged reading offers modern audiences renewed access to one of Corneille’s most distinctive works.
The performance is part of Red Bull Theater’s OBIE Award-winning Revelation Reading series, which showcases rarely produced classic plays performed by leading actors.
