Miles Davis centennial celebration to debut immersive orchestral experience in Brooklyn

The voice of Miles - in Brooklyn may 2026

The Miles Davis Estate and Park Avenue Artists have announced a new live orchestral production, “The Voice of Miles: A Symphonic Celebration,” set to premiere May 26 at National Sawdust in Brooklyn.

The debut coincides with what would have been the jazz icon’s 100th birthday. The performance marks a centerpiece of “Miles Davis 100,” a global centennial campaign spearheaded by the estate and music company Reservoir to honor Davis’ lasting impact on music, fashion, and culture.

The production, titled “The Voice of Miles,” creates an immersive environment by isolating Davis’ original trumpet performances and pairing them with newly commissioned symphonic orchestrations. The live music will interlock in real time with excerpts from the Emmy Award-winning documentary “Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool.”

The premiere will utilize the spatial sound system at National Sawdust, a venue housed in a former Williamsburg sawdust factory, to provide a directional audio experience. Following the Brooklyn debut, the estate plans to announce additional configurations of the show for future presentations.

The centennial celebration includes several other high-profile projects throughout 2026:

  • Film: The upcoming feature “Miles & Juliette,” starring Damson Idris and Anamaria Vartolomei.
  • Literature: A new centennial edition of “Miles: The Autobiography” from Simon & Schuster.
  • Fashion: A “Mr. Davis” capsule collection from Off-White™ that recently debuted at Paris Fashion Week, alongside collaborations with John Varvatos.
  • Music: Landmark archival reissues, including the first physical release of “The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965” in 30 years.

Global tributes will also include curated programming at major international institutions, including the SFJAZZ Center and the Montreux Jazz Festivals in both Switzerland and Miami.

Tickets for the May 26 premiere are available through the National Sawdust box office. Doors are scheduled to open at 7 p.m. with the performance beginning at 8 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets.
