The PS 174 Parent Association will host a special benefit performance of the Broadway Magic Hour on Sunday, March 1, 2026, bringing a family-friendly afternoon of illusion and comedy to the school’s auditorium.
The show, starring New York City family magic favorites Jim Vines and Carl Mercurio, will run from 2 to 3 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30 p.m., at PS 174, 65-10 Dieterle Crescent. All proceeds will support the school’s 2026 enrichment programs.
The Broadway Magic Hour is a one-hour interactive magic show featuring audience participation, comedy, grand illusion, mind-reading, and sleight-of-hand. The production is typically staged at the Broadway Comedy Club in Manhattan’s theater district, but will make a special appearance in Rego Park for the fundraiser.
Each ticket includes a complimentary Broadway Magic Hour magic wand. Tickets are priced at $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Seating is first-come, first-served, and all adults and children must purchase a ticket to guarantee admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult, as the event is not a drop-off program.
The Broadway Magic Hour has been recognized by Time Out New York as a top magic show in New York City. Vines has appeared on the television show “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” and he and Mercurio recently appeared together on FOX 5’s “Good Night New York.” Mercurio is also a member of the PS 174 community as the father of a kindergarten student.
“At PS 174, we value experiences that bring families together while enriching our students’ educational journey,” Principal Dr. Hazel-Ann Lewis said in a statement. “This special performance offers our community a joyful way to connect, laugh, and be inspired — while directly supporting our 2026 enrichment programs.”

Vines added, “This show is built around participation. You’re not just watching magic. You’re part of it. We’re honored to help PS 174 raise funds for enrichment programs.”
