The South Street Seaport Museum (12 Fulton St, New York, NY 10038) will celebrate Women’s History Month with a special walking tour highlighting influential women who helped shape Lower Manhattan.
The “Women Who Wowed” walking tour will take place on March 14 and March 28 in Lower Manhattan. The 90-minute guided tour explores the stories of pioneering professionals, activists, and maritime leaders whose contributions left a lasting impact on the city.
Participants will learn about women who challenged gender and racial discrimination, including those who established the first hospital staffed entirely by women and advocates who pushed for workplace equality in historically male-dominated spaces such as the New York Stock Exchange.
The tour winds through the South Street Seaport Historic District, highlighting the often-overlooked achievements of women who helped build and shape New York City.
Guests will meet their guide at Fresh Salt, where one happy hour drink or soft drink is included with registration.
Tickets range from $30 to $40, and advance registration is required. Tours will be held rain or shine and are recommended for participants ages 13 and older. Members of the South Street Seaport Museum receive a 20% discount on tickets when signing in during checkout.
