Los Angeles-based R&B artist UMI is set to perform at the Blue Note NYC on June 24 and 25 as part of the annual Blue Note Jazz Festival New York.
The performances mark a significant milestone for the Seattle-born singer, who began her career sharing acoustic tracks on SoundCloud before rising to national prominence. Her appearances place her alongside a roster of progressive voices in the R&B and jazz worlds, including Ledisi, Big Freedia, and MonoNeon.
The New York festival runs concurrently with the Blue Note Jazz Festival Hollywood Bowl in California. UMI’s set will highlight material from her new album, “people stories,” a genre-defying collection inspired by themes of ego, healing, and connection. The artist, known for her tranquil songwriting and multicultural influences, describes the new project as a tribute to collective growth.
