The interdisciplinary dance organization gaudanse will present “bury me in new orleans” as part of the Future Dance Festival at the 92nd Street Y on April 18.

The performance, choreographed by gaudanse founder Imani Gaudin, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Buttenwieser Hall at The Arnhold Center. The work is described as a meditative practice exploring internal trials while questioning themes of worthiness, love, and beauty.

The piece is part of the festival’s “In-Person Program B,” which features a lineup of emerging choreographers including Victoria L. Awkward, Jeevika Bhat, Hannah French, Avery Renee, Grace Yi-Li Tong, Stephanie Shin, and Lu Wang.

Founded by Gaudin in June 2020, gaudanse is a nonprofit collective rooted in both New York City and New Orleans. The organization focuses on weaving dance with performance art, music, film, and visual arts to create immersive environments. The collective also maintains a commitment to supporting early-career creators through mentorship and workshops.

In its program announcement, gaudanse issued a land acknowledgment honoring the Munsee Lenape, Canarsie, Wappinger, Houma, and Choctaw peoples.

Tickets for the in-person performance start at $45, while a livestream option is available for $25. Further information regarding the performance and the collective can be found at gaudanse.org.
