The Frick Collection is extending its monthly free evening series under a new one-year underwriting agreement with Louis Vuitton. Renamed “Louis Vuitton First Fridays,” the program ensures the public can access the museum for free on the first Friday of almost every month through May 2027.
The next scheduled event takes place on July 3, 2026. The June 5 event launched the one-year sponsorship, which is part of a larger three-year cultural commitment by the fashion house.
The free evening events run from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. and are open to visitors ages 10 and older. Attendees can view the permanent collections and special exhibitions after hours. The museum pairs the gallery viewings with live music, educational talks, and art-making activities.
Dining options are available on-site during these hours. Visitors can purchase full-service meals at Westmoreland, the Frick’s café. The museum also serves refreshments in the central Garden Court and the James S. and Barbara N. Reibel Reception Hall.
Advance online registration is encouraged due to the popularity of the events, but the museum also accepts walk-up visitors. The full schedule for the upcoming season includes the following dates:
- 2026: July 3, August 7, October 2, November 6, December 4
- 2027: February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7
The series skips the months of January and September.
The extension of the program comes one year after the Frick reopened its historic Gilded Age home on April 17, 2025. The museum recently completed a major renovation and expansion project designed by Selldorf Architects alongside executive architect Beyer Blinder Belle to update infrastructure while preserving the building’s historic character.
Axel Rüger, the Frick’s Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Director, noted that the public response to the recent First Fridays events shows a sustained interest in the museum following the reopening. The partnership aims to build on that interest by lowering financial barriers to the collection.
The institution has operated since 1935, following a bequest by Henry Clay Frick that dedicated his Fifth Avenue residence and art collection to the public. The museum houses fine and decorative European arts ranging from the Renaissance to the late nineteenth century. The campus also includes the Frick Art Research Library, an art history research center founded by Helen Clay Frick.
Specific details for each upcoming evening will be posted on the museum’s website at frick.org/firstfridays as the dates approach.
