The Chelsea Music Festival will present American Street Food Stories with Chef Hinnerk von Bargen on June 24, 2026, at St. Paul’s German Lutheran Church on West 22nd Street in Manhattan.
The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is part of the festival’s ongoing programming in New York City.
Chef von Bargen, an associate professor at the Culinary Institute of America and author of Street Foods, will lead the evening through a series of street food-inspired stations. The concept draws from global food traditions, including Italian street fairs, beachfront fish tacos, and Asian noodle dishes.
Organizers describe the evening as a midweek tasting experience centered on portable foods from around the world and their cultural origins.
The menu will include a selection of street food stations such as steamed bao buns with Chinese red-cooked pork shoulder, German-style currywurst, cold Sichuan-style sesame noodles, and Japanese milk bread fruit sandwiches. Beverage offerings include agua frescas with chia seeds, Radeberger Pilsner USA, and Brotherhood Winery selections.
The event is priced at $75.
Chef von Bargen’s culinary background includes teaching at the Culinary Institute of America’s San Antonio campus and its Hyde Park, New York programs. His work spans culinary education, product development, and certification programs for professional chefs. He has also contributed to industry publications and authored Street Foods, published in 2015.
The Chelsea Music Festival, founded in 2010, presents programming that combines music, culinary arts, and visual arts across venues in New York City. The organization stages events in non-traditional performance spaces and supports collaborations between artists across disciplines.
This program continues that approach with a focus on food as cultural storytelling within a live, ticketed event setting.
