The Broadway company of the musical Chicago will welcome back performer Mark Ballas for a four-week limited engagement. Ballas is scheduled to perform from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Ambassador Theatre. He returns to the role of lawyer Billy Flynn after previously breaking box office records during his prior run in the show.

The production is Broadway’s longest-running American musical in history. It features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The current core cast alongside the incoming Ballas includes Rachel Schur as Roxie Hart, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Nik Walker as Billy Flynn, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, Greg Hildreth as Amos Hart, and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.

Ballas is recognized as a three-time champion and 11-time finalist on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, where he also earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography. His previous Broadway credits include making his debut in 2016 as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, as well as starring as Charlie Price in Kinky Boots in 2018. He also appeared in the television competition series The Traitors US Season 4 on Peacock in 2025.

In addition to his stage work, Ballas forms half of the indie music duo Alexander Jean alongside his wife, singer-songwriter BC Jean. The duo has accumulated over 200 million streams since forming in 2015, following the success of tracks such as “Roses and Violets” and their cover of “Sex and Candy.” BC Jean is also known for co-writing the global song hit “If I Were a Boy,” which was recorded by Beyoncé.

The revival production of Chicago is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler and originally won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording. The creative team consists of director Walter Bobbie, choreographer Ann Reinking, scenic designer John Lee Beatty, costume designer William Ivey Long, lighting designer Ken Billington, and sound designer Scott Lehrer.

Tickets for the limited engagement are available online or in person at the Ambassador Theatre box office, located at 219 W. 49th Street in Manhattan. The regular weekly performance schedule includes shows on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with special added performances scheduled for Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2.
