The Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre has launched its summer class schedule for adults at its studio located at 412 Broadway in Manhattan. The seasonal programming, which officially commenced on July 1, provides various dance styles, training workshops, and specialized sessions tailored for multiple experience levels.
The studio is utilizing a choose-your-rate pricing model for its open studio classes, which generally range from $10 to $25 per session. The weekly lineup features structured coursework, including cross-training sessions led by instructors Manon Hallay and Madeline Kuhlke throughout July and August. A specific open-level yoga flow class taught by Amanda Selwyn is scheduled to hold its second July session today from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The mid-summer schedule also includes advanced technical classes targeted at experienced pre-professional and professional dancers. Instructor Manon Hallay led a focused ballet technique class earlier in the week on July 13, and Ashley McQueen is scheduled to teach a contemporary ballet session on July 20. McQueen will return on August 18 to host a contemporary modern class blending Horton and Graham techniques.
In addition to recurring classes, the schedule features specialized intensive programming, such as the Collaborative Dance Composition Toolkit workshop on August 11. Led by Selwyn, this three-hour session costs $75, or $50 for professional dancers and educators, and focuses on phrase making and choreographic design structures. Future open-level classes covering jazz technique and various Latin dance styles like salsa, merengue, and bachata are also planned, with dates to be announced.
The studio’s broader educational programming includes a Teaching Artist Workshop Series focused on global traditions and artistic processes, supported in part by Mid Atlantic Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Guest artist workshops and seasonal special events, including company performances and panel discussions, are also integrated into the facility’s yearly calendar.
