The performing arts organization Works & Process has announced the selected artists for its upcoming 2026–2027 creative residency season. The fully funded, week-long residency programs will take place across a network of more than a dozen partner venues located in seven states.
The organization provides selected artists with focused time and space out of town to start new projects or continue developing existing performances. Each residency supports up to eight artists for seven days, offering around-the-clock studio access, on-site housing, a travel stipend, and access to health insurance enrollment.
Artists receive an industry fee of $175 per day, totaling $1,225 for the week. For the upcoming season, lead artists will also receive an additional $1,000 fee intended to recognize their administrative labor.
The selected lineup features both curated participants and artists chosen through an open call application process held in Spring 2026. Choreographers selected through the open call include Adia Tamar Whitaker & Àṣẹ Dance Theater, Doug Varone and Dancers, Jessica Lang, John Manzari, and Soles of Duende, among others.
Curated residency artists for the new season include Alex Edelman & Michael R. Jackson, Broken Box Mime Theater, and the Limón Dance Company. The schedule also includes specific Works & Process productions, such as Brokeback Mountain, The Ballet by Pontus Lidberg and David Conte, and Princess Lockerooo’s The NutWAACKer: A Dance Concert.
Confirmed residency locations span multiple states, utilizing partner venues such as the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut and the Hutton Hotel in Tennessee. Numerous New York venues will host the artists, including the Bethany Arts Community, Catskill Art Space, Guild Hall of East Hampton, and Kaatsbaan Cultural Park.
