Abingdon Theatre Company announced the cast for its upcoming presentation of “Stella & Marlon,” a new play by Julia Adler Batavia. The production is scheduled for a single performance on April 29 at 7 p.m. as part of the company’s One Night Only Series.
The play stars Amy Carlson, known for her role in “Blue Bloods,” and Kevin Csolak of “The Outsiders.” The cast also features Maria Bilbao, E.J. Carroll, Erin Davie, Colby Kipnes, and Adam Monley. Alberto Bonilla will direct the reading, which explores the historical relationship between acting teacher Stella Adler and her student, a young Marlon Brando.
The narrative follows Adler as she returns to New York City to teach after a failed career attempt in Hollywood. The story focuses on her renewed determination as she encounters the rebellious Brando and channels her deferred dreams through his education. Casting for the project was handled by Karie Koppel, with stage management by Allison Hohman.
The performance will take place at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, located at 407 W. 42nd St., New York, NY 10036. The One Night Only Series has previously served as a development platform for several high-profile works, including Alex Edelman’s “Just for Us,” which eventually moved to Broadway.
