Four new Broadway musicals opening between late 2026 and early 2027

Four new Broadway musicals are scheduled to open in Manhattan between November 2026 and April 2027. Each new production offers themes that pair directly with existing cultural institutions, venues, and neighborhoods across the city.

Opening November 8, 2026, at the James Earl Jones Theatre, Wanted follows twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke in 1893 Texas. Written by descendant Angelica Chéri, the musical pairs with visits to the Tenement Museum, which explores Black history in Lower Manhattan through its Reclaiming Black Spaces initiative.

Galileo, starring Raúl Esparza, opens December 6, 2026, at the Shubert Theatre, focusing on the scientist’s defense of his astronomical discoveries. The show’s themes align with afternoon visits to the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History.

DOLLY: A True Original Musical, co-written by Dolly Parton and featuring her song catalog alongside new music, begins previews in December at the St. James Theatre before opening January 19, 2027. Showgoers looking for country music experiences can visit Desert 5 Spot in Williamsburg for live performances and line dancing.

Opening April 12, 2027, at the Majestic Theatre, Purple Rain features more than 20 songs by Prince in a story about a young Minneapolis performer. The theater sits near the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, which offers guided tours of its music memorabilia collection.
