Acclaimed choreographer Andrea Miller and her dance company, GALLIM, will make their 92nd Street Y debut this month with a revival of the high-energy work “BLUSH.”
The performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 30 and May 1 at Buttenwieser Hall at The Arnhold Center. The engagement is a centerpiece of the 92NY Harkness Dance Center’s 2025-26 “Women Move the World” mainstage series.
Originally premiered in 2009, “BLUSH” is one of Miller’s earliest signature works. The 60-minute piece is set in a boxing ring-style arena and explores the physical and emotional transformation of a single involuntary gesture. The production features a diverse score ranging from the classical compositions of Chopin and Arvo Pärt to the electronic sounds of Kap Bambino.
“The work is a portrait of human vulnerability in motion,” 92NY officials said in a statement, noting that the choreography requires “extremes of exertion and release” from the dancers.
Miller, who founded GALLIM in 2007, has become one of the most sought-after choreographers of her generation. Her recent commissions include works for the New York City Ballet, English National Ballet, and Martha Graham Dance Company, as well as the 2021 “YOU ARE HERE” installation at Lincoln Center.
Based in New York, GALLIM has performed at major international venues including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Joyce Theater, and Sadler’s Wells in London. Beyond the stage, the organization operates the GALLIM School of Movement, which provides residencies and professional development for early-career and parent movement artists.
