Coney Island USA is partnering with Kings County Brewers Collective to host a Beach Zombie look-alike contest. The public costumed event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in the Coney Island amusement district.
The upcoming competition takes its name from Beach Zombie, a signature fruited sour brewed by Kings County Brewers Collective. The Brooklyn-based brewery has previously collaborated with the non-profit arts organization to produce distinct beers, including Sideshow Pilsner and Mermaid Parade IPA.
The themed contest is open to participants of all ages, and there is no cost to view or enter the competition. Organizers note that full prosthetic makeup is not required to participate, and entries can be based on any creative interpretation of a beach zombie.
Competitors can register across four distinct categories, including most creative cause of death, best zombie scream, and a pet division titled Pet Sematary. A final category for most decayed will serve as the best in show award, with prizes provided by both the brewery and the arts organization.
Coney Island USA artistic director Adam Rinn and burlesque performer Little Brooklyn will serve as the hosts for the afternoon. Registration is scheduled to begin at noon inside the Freak Bar at 1208 Surf Avenue, and the official competition will start at 2:00 p.m. on West 12th Street.
