Deaf West Theatre, New York Stage & Film andPerelman Performing Arts Center announce casting for Whistle Down the Wind

Deaf West Theatre, the Perelman Performing Arts Center, and New York Stage & Film have announced the complete casting for upcoming presentations of Whistle Down the Wind. The developmental, concert-style performances of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical are directed by Tony Award winner Bill Rauch.

The staging will feature a 22-member company composed of deaf, hearing, Child of Deaf Adult, and Sibling of Deaf Adult actors. Deaf artist Savannah Dahan stars as Swallow alongside Marc Kudisch as Boone, Elena Shaddow as the Ghost of Swallow’s Mother, and Noah Buchholz as The Man.

The production features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Jim Steinman, and a book by Patricia Knop, Gale Edwards, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. This updated version retains the late-fifties American Deep South setting of the original world premiere while exploring the story through both deaf and hearing children.

The creative team includes music director Jared Stein, ASL choreographer Rosa Lee Timm, and lighting designer Annie Wiegand. Associate ASL choreography is provided by Joey Antonio and Jeremy Lee Stone, with sound design handled by Owen Meadows.

The three scheduled performances will take place on Friday, July 31, Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2 at The Bardavon in downtown Poughkeepsie. The presentations mark the conclusion of the New York Stage & Film summer season, with tickets made available through the organization’s official website.
