The video recording series Sound Check at Cherry Lane Theatre has revealed indie folk musician Annabelle Dinda as its latest featured performer. The live music session was directed by New York City creative Jack Alexander Cohen and is currently broadcasting on the A24 YouTube channel.
The recording features live acoustic versions of Dinda’s tracks “Gunpoint, Headlock” and “The Hand,” as well as her newest single titled “Whatever You Wanna.” The appearance follows previous video installments in the acoustic series from performers Blood Orange, Grace Ives, Tame Impala, Mark William Lewis, and Model/Actriz.
Dinda, a graduate of New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, wrote her latest album from her Lower East Side apartment. The project, titled Some Things Never Leave, was recorded in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn alongside record producer Jacob Portrait.
The video project is produced via a partnership between A24, A24 Music, GILBARA, and the Cherry Lane Theatre management team. Organizers confirmed that additional upcoming performance sessions for the series will feature the musical project Quiet Light.
The performance venue underwent an extensive multi-year technical renovation following its purchase in 2023, which added a new film projector, upgraded seating, and a refurbished lobby space. The venue also introduced Wild Cherry, an onsite restaurant operated by James Beard Award-winning restaurateurs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr.
