Tom Felton is back on the Broadway stage as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The actor returned to the production Tuesday, June 2, following a planned holiday break. He is appearing at Broadway’s Lyric Theatre in New York City.
Felton’s appearance marks the first time a member of the original Harry Potter film cast has joined the stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play tells a story set 19 years after the conclusion of the original series, with Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco now raising children of their own.
The current Broadway cast is led by John Skelley as Harry Potter and Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, alongside Emmet Smith as Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher and Daniel Fredrick portray Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, while Janae Hammond plays Rose Granger-Weasley. Felton stars as Draco Malfoy opposite Aidan Close as Scorpius Malfoy.
The production continues its run at the Lyric Theatre on West 43rd Street. Tickets are available online, by phone, and through the theatre box office.
Audience members planning to attend should note that Felton is not scheduled to perform during the weeks of Aug. 17-23, Sept. 14-20, and Oct. 12-18.
Since its London premiere in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has sold more than 11 million tickets worldwide. The production has earned 60 major honors, including nine Laurence Olivier Awards and six Tony Awards.
The play currently has productions running in London, New York, Hamburg, Tokyo, the Netherlands and on tour across North America.
On Broadway, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, with more than $430 million in sales and over 3.5 million tickets sold. It is also the third longest-running play in Broadway history.
Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, the production is written by Thorne and directed by Tiffany.
