The South Street Seaport Museum will host its recurring maritime-themed book club on April 26 at 12 p.m., featuring a discussion on “She-Wolves: The Untold History of Women on Wall Street” by Paulina Bren. The event is free to the public and will be held at the museum’s location at 213 Water Street, New York, NY 10038.

The April selection provides an examination of the women who entered the male-dominated financial sector from the 1960s through Sept. 11, 2001. The book highlights various figures ranging from ambitious secretaries to Muriel “Mickie” Siebert, who became the first woman to purchase a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. The narrative explores the determination and strategies these women employed to navigate and succeed in high-stakes finance.

Museum staff and special guests will lead the conversation, which is part of a series designed to foster lively discussions informed by a shared interest in literature, history, and preservation. The museum announces its literary selections at least one month in advance to allow for community participation.

In addition to the book club, the Seaport Museum offers related programming, including a walking tour titled “Women Who Wowed,” which focuses on notable women who shaped Lower Manhattan. Interested participants for the book club discussion are encouraged to claim their space in advance through the museum’s official website.
